What have I done today?

Spring is here and I have many projects I would like to complete and so many ambitions for each day. I have made many lists...daily chores, long-term projects, house projects and just fun things I would like to do. However, on this particularl rainy day, I have hardly completed everything. Maybe I am expecting too much with a 10 week old at home, but still I find it difficult to be home all day long and not really accomplish anything except feedings, diaper changes, and holding a crying baby. Today Jack has been really clinging, which I know I need to enjoy, but I find it difficult. Even as I sit here at 5:30 anticipating a feeding in the next 30 minutes I find that I smell from working out, but not having the chance to take a shower and then realize I have not even brushed my teeth today. I guess I can be thankful that no one stopped by and I have no where to be tonight. I realize that there will always be days when I do not get my list complete, no matter how small is may be. I am trying to accept this reality, but it is difficult for me. I am so thankful for my husband who encourages me and even challenges me. This morning before he left for work he mentioned how we need to thoroughly enjoy right where we are in life. I love that he often reminds me of this because I often look at what did not get done, or what needs to get done and I forget to enjoy the moments. I am starting to realize just how fast children can grow and I will not be able to cuddle with my son forever. The simple moments with him will come and go and I need to be present in each one so I don't miss anything. One of my favorite moments today was when I was feeling frustrated that I could not put Jack down he began to talk to me with all his coos. I would look away for a moment and he would fuss until I looked back at him and he would begin to talk somemore. I realized that all he wanted was my undivided attention. I am learning so much about surrendering my own wants, desires and even needs to be there for my son. I have to say even though it is a difficult sacrifice, I would not change it for the world. I love Jack with all my heart and I already know I will do anything for him.
