In August we had Kayla (Charlie's niece) come and stay with us for two weeks. It was so fun to be able to spend a lot of time together and just be able to show her around our town. It is quite a different feel up here compared to San Clemente. She enjoyed being able to relax and just see somewhere that has a completely different pace of life. Charlie worked the two weeks Kayla was here, so most of our adventures were in the evening or on his few days off.
One trip took us to the world famous city of San Francisco. If you enjoy people watching this is the best place to go. It is a completely different world, but full of life. Kayla really enjoyed all there was to see.
We had to stop by the Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum. We did not go in, but just looked around the lobby.

Then we traveled to Pier 39. It was a pretty cold and windy day.

We made a quick trip to the Golden Gate Bridge. However, it was very cold and Kayla was not very prepared for the weather. We did not last long on the bridge.

One night we took Kayla down to Roseville to go rollerskating. This is something that both Charlie and Kayle absolutely love. Charlie actually use to be a DJ at a skating rink after he graduated from high school.

We also took Kayla to our county fair. It is the typical fair that you might see in the midwest. There are more animals than anything else. And of course, the food. You can't go to our fair without getting the famous corndogs and amazing cinnamon rolls. There is also Karaoke and with the help of Charlie, Kayla convinced me to sing with her.

Like I said....the animals. There are many animals at the fair all raised by locals and being judged and auctioned off.
We took an evening ride on the ferris wheel.
I got out of going on the fair rides because I am pregnant. However, Charlie went on the each ride with Kayla. I have to say they have a much different effect than they did when we were children. A few rides and Charlie was a little unsettled. However, he is a wonderful uncle and went on each one. We had a wonderful time with Kayla.
