Friday was my last day of school. Thursday night I was so looking forward to summer and the chance for a break and to catch up on all those things that just don't get done during the year while I am trying to teach and just get basic things done. However, when I woke up Friday morning a bittersweet feeling came over me. I started to think of the year and how much I love my students and how much I love what I do. I love the opportunity to invest in my students and have an impact on their lives. Since I teach homeschool students I have a Bible based classroom. I absolutely love the opportunity I have to teach them about the most important thing in the world, the love of God. I learn so much from them about faith. The faith of a child is truly amazing. They have no reason to doubt God and all he is able to do. I am so thankful everyday to have this opportunity that I know God has blessed me with. I would not trade it for anything.
Well, since I am self-employed I am responsible for all major decisions reguarding my class. The most difficult came a few months ago when I was told I could not continue using the classroom I have had for the past year and a half. Now I have to find a new location and the search has been somewhat unsuccessful. Friday morning when I left for school I began contemplating what next year would hold. I know that there is a good chance that God has something else in store and that I will not be teaching. Yes, I am willing to follow the Lord and let him take control because I know His plans are perfect, but at the same time I am really sad to think that Friday could have been my last day of teaching, not just for the summer, but indefinetly. I still don't know what the full outcome will be, and I know at some point I will be able to teach in some capacity, but it was so difficult to say good-bye to my students not knowing what next year will hold. I love them all very much.
So as excited as I am for summer, I may have just said good bye to these children forever. My heart is sad. However, I know God's plan is perfect. This is easy to say, but oh so difficult to trust. However, I am going to let God guide my steps because He is amazing and I know He has a perfect plan. So, even on the difficult days I will trust and enjoy each moment I have along the way.
